Organizers, moderators, volunteers, and community leaders are responsible for maintaining a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment across all HackUnion spaces.

They may remove content, pause participation, or take any appropriate action when behavior conflicts with this Code of Conduct.

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to the HackUnion organizing team as soon as possible.

Reports are handled respectfully and confidentially whenever possible. We do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.

Correction

We start with a friendly reminder and practical guidance so members can correct behavior quickly.

Community Impact: Helps restore respectful interaction early.

Possible Consequence: Verbal or written correction with clear expectations.

Step 2

Warning

If behavior continues or is more serious, a formal warning is issued and documented.

Community Impact: Protects trust and signals accountability.

Possible Consequence: Official warning and close monitoring.

Step 3

Temporary Suspension

Access may be paused for a defined period from events or community spaces to prevent further harm.

Community Impact: Creates breathing room and improves safety.

Possible Consequence: Temporary removal from sessions, channels, or activities.

Step 4

Permanent Removal

Severe or repeated violations may result in a permanent ban from HackUnion activities.

Community Impact: Preserves long-term safety and community standards.

Possible Consequence: Permanent removal from all official HackUnion spaces.

Every incident is reviewed individually, based on context, severity, and community safety.
